    Hi Mr. Yong.
What is a good computer program for drawing electronic schematics?
I'm hoping to get an oscilloscope next month. When I do I'm going to check the signal from the 555 IC anomaly that I told you about before. Since the chip is not designed to operate that way, it should not be sending a clean signal, I don't think.
If it does emit a clean signal, then I'm going to do an in-depth article on it with a schematic and send it to you and Nuts & Volts magazine and see what yall think about it.
I haven't heard from them yet about the other article. Maybe it's because my article isn't professional looking enough. So I want to do a real good article about it next time.
    Thanks.

I guess I could just draw a schematic on paper and take a picture of it.

      Hi Robert,

Sorry no idea on this because I have not use those programs before. Perhaps you try to google for electronics schematic design software and I'm sure there will be lots of type of programs to choose. Hope to read your article soon.

        Hi Mr. Yong.
I have me a good Tektronix 2465A-DV 350MHz Analog Oscilloscope on the way from E-bay for $440-incl./s&h, praise the Lord! I got 2 new Probes with all accessories still in package for $89 each. Now I can do some good testing! I wanted at least 400MHz, but this one had all options including TV, so I bought it since it seemed like the best deal for the money.
I think I'll try to draw a real good schematic on paper with color markers or pencils so it will look nice, then take a picture of it.
I'll keep you abreast on my progress.

          Hi Robert,
In fact Tektronix is a very good brand and 350Mhz is good enough for troubleshooting.

    Hi Mr. Yong.
Yes sir, it should do the trick. According to the seller & pictures, it's the cleanest scope he's ever seen. It doesn't even have any scratches! And only around 1159 hours - which is kind of unbelievable. Someone took real good care of it and didn't leave it running all the time. On the handle, it says "Special Edition", but I don't know what that's about yet.

        Hi Mr. Yong.
Yeah; I don't like to brag, but on my High School exit exam, I did score in the top 1% in the nation. However, I do fit the psychological definition of the classic under-achiever. But I'm 53 now, and not too worried about the powers that be.
I'm currently rounding up the components to investigate free-energy devices. It's not easy. I'll let you know what I find out if you're interested.

    Hi Mr. Yong
The Hendershot Generator is supposed to take energy in the air around us from the earth, and amplify it through capacitors and transformers to a usable AC voltage. I hope it works.

    Hi Mr. Yong,
I talked to people on an electronics forum and they don't think the anomaly I found in the Trip5 IC matters much. Everybody now are into microcontrollers and Arduino and such.
So I'm going to get into uControllers.
It still makes a cool nightlight... also in my configuration, it's makes the 555 suitable for battery operated circuits.

        Hi Mr. Yong.
I have the circuit hooked up to a 9v battery now. I'm going to see how long the battery will last.
Also, I made a mistake on my schematic - it shows the ceramic capacitors on Pins 5 & 6 on the same ground line as the cathodes of the LED's, but they are on different lines. The caps line goes straight to ground. The 180 ohm resistor is just on the line the LED's are on. Plus, I've replaced the 180 with a 330 ohm resistor to lower the current.
The LED's look softer. I will see how it goes.
        Thanks for everything!

          Hi Mr. Yong.
Nope, the circuit is not suitable for battery operation for an extended period of time.
I know, I know I could've did some simple calculations and reached the same conclusion: but if I did that, I would miss out on all the fun! Lol
          Thanks.

      HI Trevor,

Resistors rarely develop short. To check such a low ohm you need the BLUE ESR meter or any meter that can check for low ohm resistors. Normal digital multimeter can't check resistor that is lower than 1 ohm.

    Hi Mr. Yong,
I can't believe it! Nuts & Volts Magazine published my article on the 555 IC Anomaly!!
It's in the Tech Forum in the April issue that is on the site now.
Of course, I already know what is going on with it now, but it will still be cool to see what other readers think about it.
